Blog > Fresh Seafood in Port Douglas

It’s no surprise that the seaside town of Port Douglas is a mecca for fresh seafood! But the hardest part can be finding the best places. That’s where we come in! Eat like a local and check out our selection of the very best seafood in Port Douglas:

On the Inlet
A firm favourite amongst locals, On the Inlet has long been regarded as the number one top spot for a decadent seafood feast. OTI boasts panoramic views of the Dickson Inlet turquoise waters and picturesque mountain backdrop. Guests can dine alfresco on the wooden deck that is suspended over the water, which is home to the resident 250kg groper named George! Meet George at 5pm daily for his fish feed.
TIP: Go for the famed seafood platter for 2 and indulge in oysters, prawns, mussels, sashimi, bugs, yabbies and whole mud crab.

Lantern Fish
Although they are the newest kid on the block, Lantern Fish has quickly earnt its reputation around town for serving up ‘fast’ food without skipping out on flavour and freshness. Lantern Fish is far from your regular fish & chip store, serving up ceviche, mussels in a corn & jalapeno broth, soft shell crab bao buns and much more. These guys can get very busy in the evening, so we suggest getting take away and heading down to Anzac Park to watch the sunset.
TIP: Keep an eye out for their daily food special and try their icy drinks on a hot day!

2 Fish
The multi-award winning 2 Fish Restaurant offers contemporary seafood cuisine and is located just moments away from the iconic Four Mile Beach. Named the ‘Best Seafood Restaurant in Australia’, 2 Fish serves up the region’s finest seasonal and sustainable produce including local line-caught trout and Moreton Bay Bugs. Do you love your Vino? Each dish can be paired with a glass of wine from their impressive list. Enjoy the stylish atmosphere and top notch service of 2 Fish Restaurant during your stay in Port Douglas.
TIP: On a budget? Kick back after a dip in the ocean with a delicious bucket of prawns and glass of wine for $18 or a dozen oysters natural and glass of wine for $24.

Fresh prawns – Market or Marina
Nothing beats freshly caught prawns! Especially when they are purchased straight from the back of the trawler at the Port Douglas Marina. There are no set dates for this, so make sure to keep an eye out for signage around town and ask the friendly staff at Meridian. You can also score yourself a bag of freshly caught prawns from the Sunday Markets.
TIP: Grab a bag of prawns, head to Anzac Park and devour them by the water – the perfect lazy Sunday activity!
