The annual Tropical North Queensland event Carnivale will be back with a bang this year from 22-24 May 2020.
While the official weekend of Carnivale showcases some incredible main events, there are many other brilliant places to be and things to see in the lead up to the weekend. In this article, we will outline all of the latest info on the event lineup for what will be an epic Carnivale extravaganza in 2020!

Live Tropic Rock Concert
Saturday 23rd May – 5pm onwards
A rock concert held at the dreamy Rex Smeal Park? That’s something we haven’t seen before! Join some excited Carnivale attendees for an astounding alternative rock band performance by Spiderbait at this remarkable evening of fun and music classics in the tropics. Not to mention, Machine Machine and The Zephyrbees are the supporting acts for the evening. You can’t go wrong that lineup!
Wonderland Spiegeltent
Friday 15th May – Sunday 17th May & Wednesday 20th May – Sunday 24th May
The astonishing Wonderland Spiegeltent performances will return this Carnivale for the sole purpose of bringing marvelous entertainment for everybody to enjoy! Last year’s performances were a hit with everything from unbelievable acrobatics and fire-breathing to magicians and illusionists! It’s no wonder the group is back to wow the crowds once again. It’ll be great to see what the 2020 shows have in store.Â
Ochre’s Culinary Delights at Carnivale
If delightful food and boozy lunches are up your alley, you must make the iconic Longest Lunch a priority this Carnivale! Similar to previous years, you will be soaking up the sunshine and paradise-like views at Rex Smeal Park while indulging in a flawless four-course menu. The produce will be perfectly matched with wine and beers, and there will be cheese and fruit to taste, making this event undoubtedly one of Carnivale’s best. Better yet, there will be world class entertainment by Spiegeltent performers to take things up a notch!
Street Parade
Friday 22nd May – 5pm onwards
The Street Parade will always be known as Carnivale’s fantastic opening event that is full of glitz, glamour, and entertainment! Get amongst the buzzing atmosphere on Macrossan Street and watch the magic unravel with music, street performances, fireworks, amusement rides, and SO much more. This evening is family-friendly and plenty of fun.
Tropic Nights
Thursday 21st – Sunday 24th May
Be mesmerized at dusk with a beautiful light projection over the glorious Sugar Wharf. This event will be a stunning digital production that combines graphic art and custom videos in the most unique way possible. Carnivale hasn’t featured something like this before, so if you’re an annual attender or a first-timer, make this event near Anzac Park a must-do!
Fun in the Sun – Quicksilver Family Beach Day
Saturday 23rd May – 9am-3pm
Bring your friends and family down to the scenic Four Mile Beach for a fabulous day of fun in the sun! Dream State Entertainment will host the impressive line up of beach activities for the day, including but not limited to a skydiving display, a sandcastle sculpting competition, and Salsa classes on the sand! There’s also face painting, market stalls and beach hockey to keep you having fun all day long.
Seafood Extravaganza
Sunday 24th May – 12pm-8pm
Head down to the boardwalk at the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina for the best seafood you’ve had in your life! This is one of the crowd favourite free events of Carnivale that showcases an abundance of fresh seafood and local beers. There will be dreamlike live music and additional food stalls that you’ll fall in love with. It will be a day to remember so be sure to check it out!Â
