Markets in FNQ

One of the best parts about markets is that there’s always something for everybody to love

If you aren’t a fan of browsing through beautiful fashion, jewellery or homewares stalls, you can pick up a decadent baked treat with a coffee. Or simply sit back, listen to some live music and pass time by with the ultimate type of mindless relaxation – people watching!

With all the tremendous markets that regularly take place in Port Douglas and beyond, we’ll bet that you discover some form of market goodness that brightens your holiday. Here are our top picks!

Port Douglas Markets – Sunday

A delightful cruise through Anzac Park on a Sunday morning is the perfect way to end a week! Not only is the scenery to die for, but the abundance of colourful stalls are always a treat to peruse. There is a fabulous variety of stores from fresh produce to stunning homewares – this is the place to be if you’re looking for gifts or holiday souvenirs. Get your hands on a fresh pineapple juice, sit by the glassy water near St. Mary’s Chapel and soak up the tropical sunshine. Nearby, there is a playground and swing set for the kids too. Talk about Sunday bliss!

Mossman Markets – Saturday

Early each Saturday morning, Mossman comes to life with these lively local markets that are situated beneath mesmerizing Raintrees. This popular community event is full of tasty drinks and treats, tremendous art pieces and all kinds of magnificent trinkets. One of the best parts about visiting this spot is talking to the local stallholders – they are very happy to welcome you to Far North Queensland and chat about their products. From here, you can check out the incredible Mossman Gorge or head north to discover Cape Tribulation and the Daintree! Why not fit some adventuring into the day?

Cairns Esplanade Markets – Saturday

If you plan on travelling to the gorgeous city of Cairns during your time in Tropical North Queensland, be sure to check out the fantastic Saturday markets that are situated by the Esplanade. You can’t go wrong with a lovely seaside stroll near the iconic Cairns Lagoon! The Esplanade Markets showcase brilliant local goods from pottery and clothes to beauty products. Once you’ve finished shopping, make use of the facilities for a scrumptious BBQ lunch or indulge at one of the many nearby cafes and restaurants. There are countless outdoor activities to check out in the area too – including glorious creeks, white water rafting or bungy jumping.

Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina Markets – Wednesday

Anybody who has visited the Crystalbrook Superyacht Marina will know just how much of an exciting and amazing place it is to visit! Every Wednesday afternoon, markets are held along the waterfront where you can feast your eyes and bellies on all the wonderful things on offer. This evening delight is quite the hidden gem, and the market variety is nothing short of impressive. The marina is also an epic location to stop in for a tasty lunch, dinner or a cocktail at excellent venues such as Barbados or Choo Choo’s! Not to mention, it’s only just down the road from your accommodation at Meridian Port Douglas.

Palm Cove Markets

If the timing is right and you happen to be in TNQ for the first Sunday of the month, the scenic coastal drive to the dreamy Palm Cove will be well worth the trip! These community markets are a great place to bring the family as there are awesome live entertainment and kids activities too. From 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, you can enjoy marvellous stores by the beach with plenty of arts, crafts and food – there’s even a free bouncy castle for the young ones! If you haven’t yet had the pleasure of visiting Palm Cove, you’ll be so glad you did for this day of market fun.

Markets can be such an enjoyable holiday experience – we hope you find the ideal one somewhere along your FNQ travels!
