Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth in Port Douglas

Craving something sweet?!

We all know what it’s like to finally get your hands on some sugary goodness after thinking about it all day long – your favourite bar of milky chocolate or a scoop of smooth ice cream usually does the trick. While you’re travelling though, you deserve some real desserts, and we have you covered. Plus, holidays are all about indulgence!

Our team at Meridian are about to let you in on the top spots in Port Douglas to satisfy your sweet tooth. It’s time for a sugar hit, and after all, there’s always room for dessert!

Capannina Gelato

Once you’ve tried this authentic gelato place on Macrossan street, there will be no turning back! We’re warning you now, it’s hard not to get hooked. Capannina has dairy and gluten-free options to ensure everybody is well catered for and nobody misses out.

The tasty gelato, sorbet, and specialty cakes are homemade to perfection. There is an abundance of flavours to choose from, from juicy watermelon to creamy caramel and chocolate. While you’re there, try a cup of Daintree tea or coffee for some delightful tastes that are a little closer to home!

Zinc

Chances are, if you’ve spent the evening dining at Zinc, you’ll be more than happy to stay for dessert. Just like the rest of the delicious menu, the treats are equally as impressive. Four Mile Beach is right down the road, so take a seat outside and soak up the balmy tropical air.

For something a little more indulgent, the liquid dessert cocktails are a must-try. The OK Sapote cocktail combines rich flavours of the black sapote fruit with espresso ice cream, butterscotch schnapps and white sambuca. Another favourite is the Toblerone inspired concoction with Baileys and Frangelico. There are also classics to enjoy, including the mouth-watering dark chocolate fudge cake.

Dukes Doughnuts

Really, who doesn’t love a good doughnut or two? You’ll find these scrumptious sweets all over Port Douglas – while you’re strolling through the Sunday markets, at the Little Larder on Macrossan, and at various cafes. Try the vanilla glaze or the vegan cherry vanilla jam, yum! Some are gluten-free friendly.

These speciality doughnuts are full of irresistible artisan flavours and are homemade with a whole lot of love. They are the perfect pick-me-up for any time of day. Dukes Doughnuts are available for events, so if you’re having a celebration of any sort while staying locally, keep these in mind.

Grant St Kitchen

Nothing beats the smell of a wonderful bakery, and the flavoursome treats up for grabs at Grant St Kitchen will most definitely excite your taste buds too! This place is full of delectable goodies that are perfect to pair with a coffee while strolling through the streets of Port, or for that oceanside picnic under the palm trees at Anzac Park.

The hardest part will be choosing what to order – freshly baked chocolate brownies straight from the oven, decadent pain au chocolat, fruity danishes and healthy bliss balls just to name a few. There’s also a wide selection of outstanding savoury options.

Seabean

Situated on the corner of Wharf and Warner street, Seabean has one of the most gorgeous settings and relaxed atmospheres in town. You will be glad you stopped in to try the beautiful and contemporary Spanish style tapas, but the best of the menu is yet to come.

Now for the postres (Spanish for desserts!). The famous crema Catalana is served in a coconut to add a touch of the tropics to your night and it simply can’t be missed. If those crisp caramel flavours aren’t for you, try the chocolate churros or the white chocolate mousse with honeycomb, passionfruit, and kiwifruit. Delish!

Now that you know the ultimate places for a sugar rush in Port Douglas, there’s no reason to let those cravings go astray – it’s time to treat yourself.
